Top Ten Questions about Journey Church...
What kind of church is Journey?
Journey is a non-denominational church. We are distinctly Christian in our beliefs and doctrine. Click here to read a statement of our beliefs. People who attend Journey come from a variety of denominational backgrounds and many did not grow up in church. We are a part of a network of churches here in Charlotte called the Charlotte Fellowship Network. This network allows us to partner together to plant new churches and impact the world.
What should I wear to Journey?
Anything, but make sure you wear something! People at Journey wear what is comfortable for them. Shorts, jeans, khakis, and even an occasional tie are worn each Sunday. What is casual to some may be different for others. So, we just say, come as you are; and dress however you want!
How did Journey start?
Two churches in the Lake Norman Area (Journey Church and Charlotte North Fellowship) joined together for their first service on August 3rd, 2008. Both churches were started over 6 years ago.
What will the service be like?
We work hard to make sure every Connection Service is creative and relevant to your life. On a typical Sunday you will experience great music from our band, practical teaching, creative videos, and more. Click here to listen to messages or watch some videos from a typical Connection Service. Every Sunday is different. We encourage you to come and see for yourself.
What about my kids?
While you are enjoying the Connection Service, your children are being well cared for in a safe environment on KidStreet. KidStreet has 6 different classes for all kids (birth through 5th grade). KidStreet is the “intersection of faith and fun” so there is a good chance they will beg to stay when you go to pick them up. Click here for more information about KidStreet.
Will I have to say anything, sign anything, give anything, or be singled out in any way?
Don't you hate it when churches ask guests to raise their hands or wear one of those little name-tags? That will never happen here! At Journey, you can rest assured you will never be put on the spot, never singled-out, and never embarrassed. Here's something new - if you are a guest, please don’t feel obligated to give anything! We don't even pass an offering plate. Our hope is that you will let the service be our gift to you! You can remain as anonymous as you like. If you want more information about Journey, or you want to be added to our weekly email list, or you want to sign up for the next Discovering Journey Newcomers Lunch, you can fill out the Connection Card in your program on Sunday morning.
How do I get there?
Our Sunday morning Connection Services are held every Sunday at 8:56 AM and 10:26 AM at the Regal Stadium 16 movie theater in Birkdale Village at Exit 25 in Huntersville. Click here for directions
Do you offer anything for students?
Yes! Journey Students is our student ministry for middle school and high school students. Students currently meet on Sunday evening at the Underground (Journey Offices) at 6pm. There are also small groups, retreats, and activities going on year-round.
How do I become a member of Journey?
Journey doesn’t have traditional church membership. If you would like to get more connected at Journey, we invite you to come to the next Discovering Journey Newcomers Lunch. If you would like to become an official part of the Journey family, we invite you to join a Team (volunteer serving) and get involved in a Life Group (small groups). Teams and Groups are the heart of Journey, and they are the place where you will find friends and get connected.
What is the leadership structure of Journey?
Journey has a fairly simple leadership structure. The staff at Journey is responsible for the leadership of the day-to-day operations of the church. The church is governed by the Journey Advisory Team. The Advisory Team consists of staff and non-staff leaders, and it exists for the purpose of accountability and assistance to the staff in major decisions concerning personnel, properties, mission, doctrine, finances, or direction of Journey. The ministry of Journey is really led by the many people who lead volunteer serving teams and life groups every week. |
